Supercomputers are used widely across science and engineering to perform
large-scale numerical simulations in areas including physics, cosmology,
materials science, chemistry, fluid dynamics, weather, the environment,
genetics and medicine. The UK?s flagship academic supercomputer service,
HECToR, is located at Edinburgh and operated by Edinburgh Parallel Computing
Centre (see http://www.hector.ac.uk).

The MSc in High Performance Computing (http://www.epcc.ed.ac.uk/msc)
provides an excellent grounding in HPC technologies and their practical
application. It will appeal if you have a keen interest in programming and
would like to learn about HPC and parallel programming. The MSc provides a
doorway to wide range of careers, including computational science research
and commercial software development.
